1. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH CLIENTS FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Yes, the bride and groom are your main priority as they are the ones who have hired you. However, the way in which you work with and treat their family and friends throughout the wedding day will determine your client acquisition from that single wedding. If 5 out of 7 bridesmaids are single or engaged, these are all potential wedding clients so ensure you are treating everyone around you as if they were your client. Even if they are all married, word of mouth is a huge marketing tool for photographers and people will spread the word if they have a great experience with you.

2. KNOW YOUR CLIENT’S VISION

Your bride and groom have booked you because they love your portfolio, your rates, and yourself of course.  There is a great chance they want you to shoot their wedding as beautifully as you have shot the others they have seen you do. It is still important to keep in mind that every client is unique and has his or her own vision for their wedding day photographs. Take the time to sit with your clients and discuss this vision. Are they a Style Me Pretty bride? Are they a June Bug Weddings kind of couple? There are so many styles, and although as photographers we have our own style, we can always be more creative and push our own boundaries!

3. SEND FINAL PHOTOGRAPHS TO VENDORS INVOLVED

This last tip is super important for many reasons. It is a great networking strategy.
Most photographers think they only need to share their completed work on social media and with their clients. We tend to forget how hard all of the other vendors worked to pull their part of the picture together to create something beautiful. I always send photographs of the Wedding Cake to the Bakery, photos of the décor to the designer, and of course, wedding photos for the planner. Not only will you build great relationships with vendors in the industry and get your brand out there once they post your photographs, but it is simply a kind gesture!
